Dr. Karuppiah is the program director at Eastern Connecticut Family Medicine Residency and Associate Professor at University of New England College of Medicine (UNECOM). He received his Medical degree from India, Diploma in Family Medicine from the Royal College of General Practitioners, United Kingdom, Faculty Development Fellowship from UPMC St. Margaret and his MPH in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. Before moving to Connecticut, he was the Assistant Director at Altoona Family Medicine Residency, Pennsylvania.
He is an active member of organized medicine and holds leadership positions for the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and the Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians. In addition to practicing medicine, Dr.Karuppiah has served several leadership roles while also writing a number of peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Karuppiah is also the distinguished recipient of several honors and awards including the AMA Foundation’s Leadership award, AMA Paul Ambrose award for leadership in public health and the STFM Resident Teacher award.
In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and loves spending time with his family.
