The latest in robotic surgery is available through ECHN 

Manchester Memorial Hospital is the first hospital in eastern Connecticut to introduce the daVinci S HD (High Definition) Surgical System, a minimally-invasive surgical system manufactured by Intuitive Surgical Inc.

With this most up-to-date version of the daVinci System, ECHN offers the first multi-specialty, high definition robotics surgery program in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, capable of performing procedures in the specialties of urology, gynecology, thoracic (chest) surgery, and general surgery.

Now our patients have access to the very latest in high-tech medical services -- with the personal touch of our community-based hospital.

The daVinci Surgical System is a laparoscopic surgical robot that allows surgeons to see a complex surgical field more clearly, thanks to its high-definition features, and to perform more precise surgeries. The system:

• Allows surgeons to perform complex, delicate procedures through very small incisions
• Allows surgeons to operate with unmatched precision
• Provides for less pain, less blood loss, and less scarring
• Can mean a shorter recovery time for patients
• In many cases, can lead to better clinical outcomes

The daVinci Surgical System enhances surgical capabilities by providing 3D visualization, enhanced dexterity, greater precision and ergonomic comfort. These capabilities result in surgeons having the ability to perform very complex procedures using very small incisions.
