Eastern Connecticut Health Network is a not-for-profit health system that is managed by people from the communities it serves.
- The health system is governed by a Board of Trustees. This board is made up of individuals from ECHN's service area who serve on a volunteer basis to guide the direction of our health system. These individuals determine hospital policy, are responsible for the long-range strategic planning of the health system and oversee ECHN's financial viability. Trustees serve without pay and hold the ultimate responsibility for the quality of care delivered by ECHN.
- In addition, several hundred community volunteers, known as Corporators, also govern ECHN. Corporators elected the Board of Trustees, vote on matters of critical importance to ECHN, and act as ambassadors to our communities.
- There also are subsidiary Boards that oversee different arms of our health system, such as women's health and eldercare. These Boards, too, are comprised of residents who serve on a volunteer basis.
- Day-to-day operations are managed by ECHN's President/CEO and Vice Presidents, known as ECHN's Administrators.
