Bone Health Assessments
Dexa Bone Density
Millions of women over age 50 suffer from osteoporosis. To determine your risk for the disease, we offer bone density testing. This exam measures bone mineral density which directly relates to bone strength. This test uses small amounts of xray to measure your bone mineral density and produces images of the spine and hip where most osteoporotic fractures occur. The exam, which employs the latest technology, takes approximately 20 minutes.
Vertebral Fracture Assessment (coming Spring 2013)
Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA) is an established, low-radiation method for the detection of prevalent vertebral fractures. It is often used in conjunction with Bone Density Testing in post-menopausal women and older men.
With VFA, doctors can now detect existing vertebral fractures, and dramatically decrease the risk of future fractures. For information or to determine if this study is appropriate for you, please speak to your health care provider.
Body Composition Assessment (coming Spring 2013)
A body composition exam will help your healthcare provider assess what level of exercise or intervention is needed to maintain a good ratio between fat and lean mass. The analysis is a quick, accurate, and precise low-dose x-ray exam that, in addition to managing obesity, represents a valuable tool for assessment of various growth disorders, aging and neuromuscular changes, and the effects of physical training.
The cost of the Body Composition Assessment is $50 and is not billed to your insurance company, but would be your financial responsibility at the time the assessment is conducted.
We also welcome men in need of these services.
