Eight nurse interns from the University of Connecticut School of Nursing are participating in the Summer Internship Program for Student Nurses at Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN). The program, which is in its 10th year, runs from June 4 through August 10. “The summer internship program demonstrates a high degree of collaboration between ECHN and the University of Connecticut School of Nursing,” said Rosanna Colangelo, MS, RN, CNE, Clinical Faculty, ECHN/University of Connecticut School of Nursing.
The interns, who were chosen from a field of over 80 applicants, will be entering their senior year during the upcoming fall semester. “They will most likely continue to work at ECHN in a per diem capacity during their senior year, and we are happy to have them,” said Colangelo.
The internship program is made possible through the support of a grant from the Connecticut Department of Higher Education (CDHE) and the Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF). This is the sixth year that the program has received support from CDHE and CWEALF.
