The most advanced allergy testing available to your family doctor is called the ImmunoCAP Allergy blood test. This simple blood test can be done quickly and safely at any one of ECHN Patient Services Centers located in Glastonbury, Coventry, Ellington, Manchester, South Windsor, Tolland, and Vernon/Rockville. A single blood sample can be used to test for a number of allergens at one time, ensuring rapid, accurate diagnosis. The test can be done on most individuals, including children, and it is not affected by medications.
ImmunoCAP can determine if you have or do not have an allergy. If you have an allergy, you can find out exactly what you are allergic to and begin appropriate treatment. If you do not have an allergy, your doctor will be able to use these results to help diagnose your condition.
ImmunoCAP has been accepted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The test has been proven accurate and reliable.
Because this test is fairly new to primary care, you may want to discuss it with your family physician, and let him or her know that the test can be done at ECHN Patient Services Centers. ECHN Laboratory & Pathology Services are accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and The Joint Commission.
