Philanthropy at Work

As we fulfill our mission of caring for the community, we are touched by the caring shown to us in return in the form of annual philanthropic support. Contributions allow us to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment, renovate patient care areas, and expand programs and services beyond the provisions of our annual budget.

The ECHN Community Healthcare Foundation's mission is to raise funds and to ensure that the gifts are directed towards the programs or facilities that you wish to support. Financial contributions ensure the availability of excellent healthcare for you, your family, your neighbors and friends when it is needed most.

Coffee Cart Volunteers Donate $40,000!
Each morning, a team of dedicated volunteers start their day by setting up a welcoming coffee station in the lobby of the Manchester Memorial Hospital. Proceeds from the sales of each cup of coffee are given to the ECHN Community Healthcare Foundation to support the programs and services at the hospital and DeQuattro Cancer Center. This year, the volunteers gifted $40,000 to the following programs that benefit the patients across eastern Connecticut: $24,000 to the Meg Berté Owen Cancer Survivorship Fund; $3,000 to the Breast & Cervical Cancer Program; $3,000 to Oncology Nurse Education; and $10,000 for the Women’s Center Healthcare Coordinator.

“The coffee cart volunteers are a special part of our team at ECHN. Their service and dedication to assist in providing the cancer center and the oncology services with the funds needed to operate the many programs is just amazing. These services are not reimbursable and philanthropic giving is the only way that makes them possible. A simple thank you hardly seems enough for all they do!” said Kris Popovitch, Administrative Director of Cancer Services at ECHN.

Nina Kruse, ECHN VP of Development; Kristoffer Popovitch, ECHN Administrative Director of Cancer Services; Volunteers Ed Mahoney, Karin Turek, Paula Ballsieper, Cindy Jarvis, Joyce Caton and Mary Winn; Deborah Parker, ECHN Sr. VP of Patient Care Services; and Leslie Juliani, Clinical Coordinator.
