Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, confidential service of ECHN that provides help for dealing with and overcoming personal and/or work related problems. EAP is available to all employees and volunteers in all departments on all shifts, and their families too.
Some of the things that EAP can help deal with include; depression, getting along with co-workers, dealing with the death of a loved one, family crisis, caring for elderly parents, divorce and marital problems, coping with adolesence, domestic issues, communicating more effectively with supervisors/peers, alcohol and drug abuse, financial issues, managing stress and connecting employees with outside resources, etc.
EAP counseling is available for up to three sessions per employee or family member, and also for making referrals to ouside agencies. Employees can access EAP for up to three sessions during their work hours without having to punch out (however, in this case, the supervisor must be notified by the employee of the appointment). If employee feels uneasy about going during work time, appoinments can be scheduled on days off, before or after work, or at an offsite location.
Supervisors can also utilize EAP services for employees if they have concerns with poor work performance. The supervisor can discuss concerns with the employee and refer them to an EAP counselor. All information is confidential between employee and the EAP counselor.
In the past 12 months, an average of 30-40 employees per month have utilized EAP services.
